Quick update: Survived cycling around Bangkok despite tropical storm! Cycled around some amazing temples as well as back streets and the old side of town winding through tiny paths with stalls either side (can't really call them roads). Definitely would have been killed and eaten by now were it not for our experienced guide during the cycle ride. Anything which lays still for more than a few hours is considered fair game for dinner! Not always the most beautiful place but mostly very friendly and welcoming people, just unsurpisingly a few at the tourist hotspots who want to take you for "the full tourist experience". Do not come to Bangkok if you like budgies. It looks fantastic by night from the river. Tasted some great food and some dodgy food, they are a nation with a sweet tooth which suits me fine!
Now on the island of Koh Samui, amazing and charming place despite the western invasion, lots of Aussies, Germans and Russians holidaying here with a few Brits and Japanese mixed in. Beautiful places to eat on the seafront, great cheap food. It makes me sad that there is a Tesco's here though! Enjoying chilling out at the mo, could gladly spend a few months here if I didn't have a job to go to. Some hotels here are only £10 per night. You can live on £15 a day easily, inc accomodation, food, crazy. Heading out on a speedboat in a few days to see some more islands and do some snorkelling in the middle of nowhere.
Oh and yesterday in a moment of intense wisdom I decided it would be a great idea for me to go to a barbers for the first time in 15 years in a shack near the fishermans village and get my hair cut by a Thai lady in her 50s who didn't speak a word of english and my Thai isn't too great. I now look like I'm ready to join the Thai military but it's been all good fun and it will grow quickly! No regrets, just my sort of no nonsense haircut!
